Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has voiced strong confidence in the Black Stars as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, dismissing concerns regarding the mounting pressure on the national team.

Ghana is set to make its fifth appearance at the global tournament, which will be hosted this summer across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Despite the high stakes, Adams maintains a composed outlook on the team's preparations.

A Challenging Path in Group L

The Black Stars face a difficult road in the opening stages of the tournament. Drawn into Group L, Ghana will compete against:

- Panama (June 17)

- England (June 23)

- Croatia (June 27)

Ambitious Targets Under Queiroz

The Sports Minister has set a high bar for the squad and its newly appointed head coach, Carlos Queiroz. Adams has publicly tasked the veteran manager with guiding Ghana to at least the semi-final stage.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Adams emphasized that his approach remains methodical rather than reactive.

“I am doing everything possible to ensure that we do things the right way. I am not nervous, but I am rather calculated in doing things, and if I am convinced about what I am doing, nothing stops me,” Adams stated.

Addressing the weight of his office and the public's expectations, he added, “Pressure will come, but I will not let it consume me as a Sports Minister.”

Seeking Redemption

The 2026 campaign represents an opportunity for the Black Stars to move past recent frustrations.

Following early exits in both the 2014 and 2022 editions of the World Cup, the appointment of Queiroz is seen as a pivotal move to ensure a more competitive run in North America.

Ghana will officially kick off its campaign against Panama on June 17.
