Elisha Owusu praises Accra Sports Stadium pitch ahead of AFCON qualifiers against Sudan
Black Stars midfielder Elisha Owusu has commended the condition of the Accra Sports Stadium pitch ahead of Ghana’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan.
The AJ Auxerre player, who was among the 11 players who took part in Monday’s training session at the stadium, expressed his satisfaction with the pitch after the session.
"It was good, I will not lie to you," Owusu told reporters.
"The pitch was quite good, and we had an amazing training session today.
We are really happy that everyone is doing their part to help us play better football."
Ghana is set to face Sudan in a crucial doubleheader as part of Matchday three and four of the AFCON qualifiers.
The Black Stars will host the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, with kick-off set for 16:00 GMT, before travelling for the return leg at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya on Monday, October 14.
Following a disappointing 1-0 loss to Angola and a 1-1 draw against Niger in their first two games, the Black Stars are currently third in their group with just one point.
The team will be looking to bounce back with wins against Sudan, led by coach Kwesi Appiah, to improve their standing in the qualifiers.
