Ghana’s Black Princesses have taken a major step towards making history after defeating South Korea 3-1 in their second group-stage game.

The victory puts Ghana in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stage, with the team needing just a draw against France in their final group match to secure a historic passage to the next round.

After a goalless first half, the Black Princesses returned from the break with greater attacking intent and were rewarded seven minutes after the restart.

Sarah Nyarko broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute, giving Ghana the crucial lead and setting the team on course for an important victory.

Ivy Osei then doubled Ghana’s advantage just three minutes later, finding the back of the net in the 55th minute to put the Black Princesses firmly in control.

Ghana continued to dictate proceedings and added a third goal in the 84th minute through Ruth Amponsah, effectively putting the result beyond South Korea’s reach.

The Koreans managed to score a consolation goal in the fifth minute of added time, but it was too late to inspire a comeback as Ghana held on for an emphatic 3-1 victory.

The result has placed the Black Princesses in a favorable position ahead of their final group encounter against France.

Ghana knows that a win or draw against France will secure qualification from the group stage, potentially sending the Black Princesses into the knockout phase for the first time in the tournament’s history.
