Ferran Torres fires Spain to 2026 FIFA World Cup title
Spain have won the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating defending champions Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final at New York New Jersey Stadium.
After a goalless 90 minutes, Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the match in the 106th minute, with Nico Williams providing the assist.
Spain dominated much of the game, creating several scoring opportunities before finally breaking the deadlock in extra time. They also had a number of goals ruled out.
The victory gives Spain their second FIFA World Cup title and ends Argentina's reign as world champions. Spain conceded just one goal throughout the tournament.
The final attracted 80,663 spectators, including US President Donald Trump, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Pharrell Williams and Trevor Noah.
The match also featured the first-ever FIFA World Cup halftime show, headlined by BTS, Justin Bieber, Shakira and Burna Boy.
