Funeral arrangements announced for slain footballer Dominic Frimpong
The Ghana football community is preparing to bid a final farewell to Dominic Frimpong, a 20-year-old winger for Berekum Chelsea, following his tragic death earlier this month. Funeral rites have been scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Assin Dansame in the Central Region.
Frimpong, who was on loan from Aduana FC, lost his life on April 12 when the Berekum Chelsea team bus was ambushed by armed men near Samreboi.
The team was returning from a Ghana Premier League fixture against FC Samartex 1996 when masked gunmen opened fire on the vehicle.
Frimpong was the only fatality in the attack, which has since sparked a national conversation regarding the security of sports teams traveling for matches.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed it will be heavily represented at the ceremony to honor the young player's life.
Attendees will include members of the Executive Council, the Central Region Football Association, and representatives from both Berekum Chelsea and Aduana FC.
