GFA and football community bid farewell to late Dominic Frimpong
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and members of the football fraternity gathered on Wednesday in Assin Dansame, Central Region, to hold final funeral rites for the late footballer Dominic Frimpong.
Frimpong, an Aduana FC player, died earlier this month following an armed robbery attack on the Berekum Chelsea FC team bus.
The team was returning to Berekum after a Ghana Premier League match against FC Samartex 1996 when the vehicle was targeted by armed men.
Support for the Bereaved Family
The ceremony saw a large attendance from football officials, traditional leaders, and sympathizers. Significant financial contributions were made to support Frimpong's family during the burial:
- Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II (Dormaahene): GHS 100,000
- Ghana Football Association: GHS 10,000
The combined total of GHS 110,000 was presented to the family to assist with funeral expenses and provide ongoing support.
The incident has caused significant shock within the Ghanaian football community, highlighting security concerns for teams traveling between league fixtures.
