The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially launched the Club Licensing process for teams intending to compete in the 2026/2027 CAF Interclub Competitions.

In alignment with Confederation of African Football (CAF) regulations, all prospective clubs must secure a valid license through the GFA to be eligible for continental play.

Licensing Criteria

To qualify, clubs must demonstrate full compliance across five key pillars as defined by the CAF Club Licensing Regulations:

- Sporting: Youth development programs and medical care for players.

- Infrastructure: Access to safe and compliant training and match facilities.

- Personnel and Administrative: Employment of qualified technical and administrative staff.

- Legal: Valid legal statutes and ownership documentation.

- Financial: Audited financial statements and proof of no overdue payables.

Stadium Requirements

The GFA emphasised that only stadiums approved under the CAF Stadium Regulations (2022 Edition) are eligible to host matches. Clubs whose preferred venues do not meet these standards are urged to begin the stadium homologation (certification) process immediately to avoid disqualification from hosting home games.

Deadlines and Compliance

The licensing process is strictly time-bound, with the GFA set to make final submissions to CAF by June 30, 2026.

The association has advised clubs to engage proactively with the GFA Club Licensing Department to ensure all documentation and inspections are completed before the deadline.

Failure to meet these mandatory requirements will result in a club being rendered ineligible for the 2026/2027 CAF Champions League or CAF Confederation Cup, regardless of their domestic league or cup standing.
