Ghana defender Gideon Mensah set to join 1. FC Köln on free transfer
Black Stars defender Gideon Mensah is set to join German club 1. FC Köln on a free transfer after agreeing a deal that will keep him at the club until 2029.
The 26-year-old left-back is scheduled to undergo a medical on Friday, July 10, before completing the move.
Mensah arrives after playing a key role in Ghana's defence during the Black Stars' fifth FIFA World Cup campaign, where he was a regular starter and one of the team's most consistent performers at left-back.
The defender is expected to finalise the transfer once he successfully completes his medical, after which Köln will officially announce his signing.
The move marks a new chapter in Mensah's career as he prepares to begin his Bundesliga career with the newly promoted German side under a long-term contract.
