Ghana's medal count at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow increased on Friday, July 31, 2026, when bantamweight boxer Amadu Mohammed captured a bronze medal in the men’s 55kg weight class.

​The African Games champion narrowly missed out on a spot in the final after dropping a 4-1 split decision to Australia's Dixon Jye in the semi-finals.

​Amadu established an early advantage by sweeping the first round on all five judges' scorecards.

However, Jye mounted a comeback in the second round, taking the favor of four out of the five judges to shift the momentum.

​Carrying that energy into the final frame, the Australian maintained his edge despite a late, determined push from the Ghanaian, who connected with several sharp blows near the end. All five judges scored the final round for Jye, securing his advancement to the gold medal match.

​Because the Commonwealth Games award bronze medals to both losing semi-finalists, Amadu was assured a spot on the podium.

​This accomplishment marks Ghana's second podium finish at the Glasgow Games, following Zinabu Issah's silver medal in the women's F57 shot put as Team Ghana continues to build its success toward the end of the competition.
