NPA to face GCAA for 3rd place at UGCFL season 2
The semi-finals of the University of Ghana Corporate Football League Season 2 delivered a thrilling night of football, with the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) set to compete for third place after falling to Wilmar Africa and the Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club (GAFOSC), respectively, in the semi-finals.
In the first semi-final game, Wilmar Africa faced GCAA in a closely fought match. Wilmar controlled possession and created multiple chances in the first half, but GCAA held strong defensively, keeping the score level at halftime.
In the second half, Wilmar increased their intensity and broke the deadlock in the 7th minute with a goal from Richard Brianoo. Just four minutes later, Roland Tetteh doubled the lead, giving Wilmar a solid grip on the match. Despite GCAA’s efforts to equalize, Wilmar secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory.
The second semi-final game, featuring NPA and GAFOSC, was equally intense. NPA dominated much of the first half, creating clear chances, but they couldn’t turn that dominance into goals.
GAFOSC scored early in the second half with a goal from L/CPL Gabriel A. Teye, which turned out to be the winning goal. NPA pressed hard for an equalizer, but GAFOSC's disciplined defence ensured they held on for a tough 1-0 win.
Now, attention turns to the 3rd place playoff, where NPA will face GCAA in a contest for pride and the bronze medal at UGCFL 2026.
The final will see Wilmar Africa take on GAFOSC for the Season 2 trophy on Friday, 5th June 2026, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
