The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Ghana has dismissed reports suggesting that some Team Ghana athletes are missing following the conclusion of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

In a statement, the committee said it had taken note of media reports and public discussions about the whereabouts of some athletes but stressed that such claims were inaccurate.

The NPC also acknowledged comments by the Communications Director of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Charles Osei Asibey, who told Sporty FM that Team Ghana athletes are returning to Ghana in batches.

"In view of this official clarification, NPC Ghana wishes to state that it is inaccurate to characterize athletes as 'missing' or 'unaccounted for' without verified facts from the appropriate authorities," the statement said.

The committee explained that the management, administration, accommodation, logistics and travel arrangements of Team Ghana during the Commonwealth Games were the responsibility of the designated Games Management structure of the Ghana Olympic Committee.

It further noted that the continued stay of some athletes in the United Kingdom after the Games should not be interpreted as evidence of disappearance or wrongdoing.

According to the NPC, athletes from several Commonwealth countries remain in the UK during the validity period of their immigration permissions, which expire on August 16, 2026, while others are returning home in scheduled batches.

The committee urged media organisations and commentators to verify information with the appropriate authorities before publication and avoid speculative reporting that could damage the reputation of Ghana's athletes and the country's international sporting image.

NPC Ghana said it remains committed to the welfare of its athletes.
