The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Ghana officially welcomed its new technical advisor, Prof.r Youhwan Kim, during a brief but significant ceremony held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the NPC Ghana Secretariat.
The event, which symbolized a key milestone in the growth of Para sports in Ghana, was graced by Para Federation heads, representatives from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Ms. Kyunha Woo (KOICA Chief Manager), Lordin Mintah (Programs Officer), NPC executives, and members of the media.
Prof Youhwan Kim, deployed under the KOICA Project, is the second technical advisor to collaborate with NPC Ghana.
In his address, NPC Ghana President Mr. Samson Deen extended heartfelt gratitude to the Korean Government, KOICA, and the Korean Paralympic Committee for their continued partnership and support.
"I have no doubt that the arrival of Prof Youhwan Kim will significantly enhance the development and promotion of Para sports in Ghana," Mr. Deen remarked.
"His expertise will further strengthen the capacity of our Associations and Federations, aligning with the government's vision of revitalizing sports in the country."
Mr. Deen also emphasized the various forms of support Ghana has received from the Korean Government, including capacity-building initiatives, athlete training opportunities in Korea, and the provision of critical resources such as sports equipment, logistics, and a specialized 30-seat bus.
Speaking on behalf of KOICA, Ms. Kyunha Woo expressed enthusiasm for the growing partnership between the governments of Ghana and Korea.
"We are honoured to support NPC Ghana in its mission to develop Para sports and empower athletes.
This collaboration represents a shared commitment to fostering sports excellence and inclusivity," she stated.
