Ecobank Ghana appoints Alhassan Andani as Board Chairman

Ecobank Ghana has named former Managing Director of Stanbic Bank and past President of the Ghana Association of Banks, Alhassan Andani, as its new Board Chairman, with effect from Thursday, March 26, 2026.

According to Joy Business, Ecobank Ghana described the appointment as a key step in its efforts to reinforce corporate governance, enhance institutional resilience, and strengthen its position within Ghana’s financial sector.

Experience and Industry Standing

The bank noted that Chief Andani brings more than 36 years of experience in banking and finance, spanning corporate and investment banking, financial management, strategic leadership, and governance.

He has occupied several senior executive and board-level roles within the industry, earning a reputation as one of Ghana’s most respected financial sector leaders. Ecobank added that his experience extends to national and corporate governance assignments, equipping him with strong boardroom expertise and strategic insight.

Commenting on the appointment, Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, Abena Osei-Poku, said it underscores the bank’s commitment to sound governance, effective leadership, and long-term growth.

She noted that Chief Andani’s in-depth knowledge of Ghana’s financial landscape and proven leadership experience position him well to guide the bank through its next phase of development.
