IBAG provides water facilities to help curb St Peter’s SHS campus water crisis
The Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana has provided a borehole and a large water storage tank to St. Peter’s Senior High School in the Eastern Region, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts to address water challenges on campus.
The project was officially handed over on March 27 by the Association’s President, Stephen Kwarteng Yeboah, during a ceremony held at the school in Kwahu Nkwatia.
The intervention is expected to ease the persistent water shortage faced by students and staff, improving sanitation and overall living conditions within the school.
The presentation formed part of activities marking IBAG’s 11th Annual Conference and Exhibition (ACE), which was held from March 24 to 28 at the Rock City Hotel under the theme “Building Resilience in a Socio-Political Environment.”
The four-day event brought together key stakeholders in the insurance industry, including the Minister for Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, Acting Commissioner of Insurance, Dr Abiba Zakariah, and keynote speaker Mazi Chijoke Nwafor, alongside industry leaders, CEOs, and representatives of various insurance bodies.
In his address, Mr. Yeboah described the conference as a significant platform for reflection, collaboration, and strategic planning within the industry. He noted that over the years, the conference has been hosted in several regions across the country, strengthening bonds among stakeholders and promoting industry growth.
He emphasised that this year’s theme was carefully chosen to address the uncertainties within the current socio-political and economic environment, urging players in the sector to build resilience in the face of evolving challenges.
Mr. Yeboah highlighted concerns about unethical practices, including corruption and undue political interference, which he said pose risks to the sustainability of the insurance industry if not addressed.
He also acknowledged the role of regulators, particularly the National Insurance Commission Ghana, for its continued support and evolving regulatory framework aimed at strengthening the sector.
The IBAG President further commended sponsors, including SIC Insurance PLC and WAICA Reinsurance PLC, for their contributions to the success of the conference.
