Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has officially launched the Heritage Village initiative, a platform designed to promote locally manufactured gold jewellery and support Ghana’s value-added industry.

The initiative, spearheaded by legal practitioner Gertrude Emefa Donkor under Goldbod Jewellery, aims to shift the country’s focus from exporting raw gold to producing finished, high-value products.

Speaking at the launch, the Vice President underscored the importance of developing local industries by empowering artisans and strengthening Ghana’s creative and industrial sectors.

She noted that Ghana’s economic transformation depends largely on its ability to move beyond extraction and invest in production and innovation.

The three-day event was deliberately timed to coincide with Ghana Month, highlighting gold not only as a natural resource but also as a symbol of national pride and economic opportunity.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang commended the organisers for contributing to the national dialogue on industrial growth and for creating opportunities for young entrepreneurs to scale their businesses and compete on the global stage.

She expressed optimism that the Heritage Village initiative would inspire innovation, support local artisans, and play a key role in advancing Ghana’s industrialisation agenda.
