The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has instructed all its agencies to present comprehensive implementation plans by April 15 to support the rollout of the government’s 24-hour economy agenda.

The directive was disclosed by Deputy Minister Richard Gyan-Mensah during a media interaction on the sidelines of a Memorandum of Understanding signing between the 24-Hour Economy Authority and the National Petroleum Authority. The agreement is aimed at promoting round-the-clock operations within the downstream petroleum industry.

He explained that the ministry has already communicated the requirement to its agencies, with official correspondence issued requesting detailed action plans.

According to him, a number of institutions within the sector have made notable strides toward transitioning to continuous operations. Organisations such as the Tema Oil Refinery and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company are reportedly developing internal strategies, while others are at different stages of readiness.

The April 15 deadline is expected to help the ministry assess overall preparedness and identify potential gaps in implementation.

Mr Gyan-Mensah added that fully operationalising a 24-hour economy in the energy sector could lead to significant job creation, both directly and indirectly.
