Ghana Gas CEO courts African leaders, investors to accelerate investment in gas infrastructure
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Gas Company Limited, Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay, has called on African leaders, policymakers and investors to intensify investments in gas infrastructure to unlock the continent’s vast natural gas potential and drive sustainable economic transformation.
Ms. Blay made the call at Africa Oil Week (AOW) 2026, where she was invited as a panellist to speak on the theme, “Building the Backbone: Midstream Gas Infrastructure as the Link Between Supply and Demand.”
The discussion focused on the critical role of midstream infrastructure in connecting gas production to markets, industries and power generation, while strengthening the resilience and efficiency of Africa’s energy value chain.
Ms. Blay stressed the importance of developing the infrastructure needed to bridge the gap between gas supply and demand, noting that Africa’s abundant gas resources must be matched with the necessary investments in processing, transportation, storage and distribution infrastructure.
She further highlighted the need for stronger partnerships among African governments, national oil and gas companies, private investors and development institutions to mobilise the capital required to expand the continent’s gas infrastructure.
For Ghana, the conversation is particularly significant as the country continues to position natural gas as a key component of its energy security, industrialisation and economic development agenda.
The Ghana Gas CEO’s participation at AOW 2026 therefore provided an important platform to showcase Ghana’s experience in the midstream gas sector while advocating for greater regional collaboration and investment.
“Africa has the gas resources. The next frontier is building the infrastructure that connects those resources to the people, industries and economies that need them.”
Her call reinforces the growing recognition that strategic investment in gas infrastructure will be critical to Africa’s efforts to achieve energy security, support industrial growth and create sustainable economic opportunities.
