Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson says Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited has presented ¢391,195,000 ($35 million) in dividends to the state.

The amount is a significant increase from the US$5 million dividend paid to the state by the company last year.

In a post on Facebook, Dr Ato Forson thanked the mining company for the payment.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, I thank Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited for presenting ¢391,195,000.00 ($35 million) dividend to the state — up from $5 million last year.”

He said the increase reflects the company’s profitability.

“This strong increase reflects the company’s profitability.”

Dr Ato Forson said Ghana must receive a fair share of the benefits generated from the extractive sector.

“Ghana must receive its fair share from the extractive sector.”

He linked the increased dividend to the government’s sliding-scale system, which increases the royalty rate paid by mining companies as gold prices rise, allowing the state to receive a larger share of revenues when gold prices are higher.

“That is why we introduced the sliding-scale system: when mining companies earn more, the people of Ghana must benefit more!”

The development comes as Perseus Mining reports strong financial performance for its 2026 financial year.
