A high-level strategic meeting of the Africa Economic Forum has been held in Accra to advance efforts aimed at positioning Africa as a central actor in the evolving global economic order.

The meeting, held on April 15, 2026, brought together members of the Forum’s leadership and advisory bodies to discuss its strategic direction, strengthen partnerships, and accelerate its role as a platform for investment, policy dialogue, and cross-border collaboration.

Among those present were former President John Agyekum Kufuor, a member of the Forum’s Strategic Advisory Board; Akwasi Opong-Fosu, former minister and Chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre and also a member of the Strategic Advisory Board; and Abraham Dwuma Odoom, former Deputy Minister of Health, Member of Parliament, Executive Board Member of the Forum, and Honorary Chair of the Africa Agriculture and Food Forum.

Discussions focused on strengthening the Forum’s strategic direction, enhancing institutional partnerships, and expanding its role in driving investment and economic cooperation across the continent.

The engagement also highlighted Ghana’s continued commitment to Pan-African ideals and its role in shaping Africa’s economic and political direction. The Forum noted that Ghana’s involvement reflects both symbolic and strategic support, given its historical role in advancing Pan-African thought and action.

A spokesperson for the Forum said the platform is aimed at strengthening institutions, promoting leadership, and encouraging cooperation to support sustainable economic growth.

“The future of Africa must be defined by Africans—through strong institutions, bold leadership, and strategic cooperation,” the spokesperson said, adding that the Forum seeks to translate this vision into practical outcomes through investment mobilisation, policy alignment, and partnerships.

The Africa Economic Forum said it remains focused on building a platform that connects Africa to global capital, ideas, and opportunities, while ensuring the continent plays an active role in shaping the global economic landscape.
