Amedzofe Canopy Walkway temporarily closed after structural incident
The popular Amedzofe Canopy Walkway in the Volta Region has been temporarily closed to the public following an incident on Wednesday involving one of the small exit pillars supporting part of the structure.
Management says the shutdown is a precautionary measure to ensure visitor safety while assessments and repairs are undertaken.
Speaking to Class News, the Assembly Member for the area, Mr. Robert Amey, said the closure was necessary to prevent any potential risks.
He encouraged tourists to continue exploring the many other attractions in Amedzofe while the walkway undergoes refurbishment.
Mr. Amey also used the opportunity to call on investors to channel resources into the local hospitality sector by establishing hotels, guest houses, and restaurants.
This, he noted, would make it easier for tourists who wish to spend weekends in the area to do so without the stress of commuting from Ho.
He further assured that the Ho West District Assembly remains committed to ensuring the safety of all tourists and investors who visit the area.
Management of the canopy walkway expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and extended gratitude to tourists, tour operators, and community partners for their patience and understanding during the temporary closure.
