Former Shatta Movement militant member Addi Self has opened up about an incident he says contributed to the breakdown of his friendship with dancehall star Shatta Wale.

Speaking in an interview that recently resurfaced online, Addi Self recalled how Shatta Wale allegedly instructed him to go live on social media and insult rapper Kweku Smoke following comments the rapper made accusing the dancehall musician of stealing one of his songs.

According to Addi Self, the incident occurred during the period he was actively associated with the Militant camp. He explained that Kweku Smoke had previously visited the camp as an up-and-coming artist hoping to connect with members of the group, but the situation later took an unexpected turn.

"About two months later, Kweku Smoke was on a live video saying Shatta had stolen his song,” Addi Self recounted.

The former militant member said he was surprised by the accusation and expressed concern over the development. He claimed that Shatta Wale subsequently instructed him to publicly attack the rapper in response.

However, Addi Self said he was unwilling to do so because he barely knew Kweku Smoke and had never had any personal interaction with him.

“I told Shatta Wale that I didn’t even know the person because when he came to the camp, he wasn’t introduced to me. I didn’t know him personally, so I didn’t want to get involved,” he recalled.

According to Addi Self, his refusal to carry out the request did not sit well with Shatta Wale, who allegedly became upset with his decision.

He further disclosed that the disagreement was one of several incidents that eventually strained his relationship with the dancehall musician and contributed to their eventual fallout.
