Opoku Bilson opens up on emotional family reaction to his UK success
Ghanaian comic actor Opoku Bilson, has shared how his family's sacrifices and prayers have finally paid off, revealing that his mother was moved to tears after seeing videos of his recent trip to the United Kingdom.
Speaking in an interview with Zionfelix sighted by Classfmonline.com on June 2, 2026, the actor recounted the emotional moment when his mother called him after watching old videos of his struggles resurface online following his appearance on Dr Likee’s O2 Indigo show in the UK.
According to Opoku Bilson, his parents have always supported him through difficult times and are now proud to witness his progress. He disclosed that his mother became overwhelmed with emotion after seeing a viral video of him carrying goods on his back years ago, alongside another video showing her praying for him during his challenging days.
Reflecting on those moments, the actor said he vividly remembers visiting his mother on his birthday four years ago and asking her to pray for him. At the time, he assured her that one day he would have a remarkable success story to share.
“By God’s grace, that dream has come true,” he said, explaining that his mother's tears were a result of seeing those prayers answered.
Opoku Bilson also addressed rumours suggesting that fellow actor Kyekyeku had been sidelined by Dr Likee due to Bilson’s growing popularity within the comedy team. He dismissed the claims as false, insisting that members of the group continue to work together harmoniously.
“There is no truth to those reports. We are all still working together, and we recently worked with Kyekyeku,” he stated.
