Ghana's culinary heritage takes centre stage at Taste 69@69
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has launched Taste 69@69, a food festival showcasing 69 indigenous Ghanaian dishes to celebrate the country's 69th independence anniversary.
The event is part of Ghana Cultural Week 2026, themed "Resetting Ghana's Tourism, Culture and Creative Ecosystem.
Speaking at the event, the CEO of GTA, Maame Efua Houadjeto, emphasised the importance of culinary tourism in driving local economic growth.
"Food is one of the strongest expressions of our national identity, history, and community," she said.
The festival aims to promote Ghanaian cuisine, cultural heritage, and domestic tourism.
Madam Houadjeto urged restaurant operators, chefs, and food entrepreneurs to place Ghanaian cuisine at the centre of their offerings, highlighting the potential for traditional dishes like wakye, fufu, and jollof rice to become global brands.
The event is expected to attract global travellers seeking authentic cultural experiences, positioning Ghana as a prime food tourism destination.
