Shatta Wale reveals plans for ‘Shatta Fest UK’ on Aug 2
Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has announced plans to take his Shatta Fest event to the United Kingdom later this year.
The musician noted that investor challenges had led him to personally finance many of his projects. He said the investors in Ghana were frustrated after being taken advantage of repeatedly.
“The investors have been repeat victims of lies that they are no more interested in the business,” he said on Asempa FM, explaining why he has chosen to move forward independently.
“So I have had to pile money and do my own thing,” he added.
Despite the setbacks, the singer-songwriter and record producer confirmed that his popular Shatta Fest concert will still take place this year, with him headlining.
He further disclosed, however, that he will take the event international staging it in the UK.
Shatta Wale said the event is scheduled for August 2, 2026, even though the exact venue for the concert has not yet been announced.
Shatta Wale’s announcement comes shortly after Ghanaian rap heavyweight Sarkodie sold out the iconic 5,000-capacity Royal Albert Hall in London on March 6 during his Rapperholic concert held to mark Ghana's 69th Independence Day celebrations.
At the end of that performance, Sarkodie also made headlines by declaring his plans to host a March 2027 Rapperholic concert at the The O2 Arena, which has a capacity of about 20,000 people.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Shatta Fest UK will be organised with support from Akwaaba UK, the team behind the popular diaspora festival Party in the Park UK.
More details about the venue and additional performers are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
