Highlife Funk band FRA! set to release 3rd album ‘soon’ this year
Decorated Highlife Funk band FRA! is set to release their third studio album.
The announcement followed a final listening session held today, June 3, 2026, at rapper Yung Pabi's Extra Loud Studios in East Legon, Accra.
The upcoming project follows the 11-year-old band's previous albums, Journey (2019) and Chale Wote (2023).
Members of the team shared insights into the record, which has been in development for the past few years.
"Honestly, this album is beautiful with collaborations from Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and of course Ghana," composer and drummer Joshua 'Virgen' Boateng (JVB) said. "I'm sure you're going to love it. FRA! to the world."
Main vocalist Christian Osele expressed confidence that the project will demonstrate the band's growth, stating that the album will "taste souls, connect and inspire people". He revealed that his personal favorite tracks are Nyamekye, Marry Me, and Party featuring the GG Brass band.
Bassist and record producer Obeng King (OBK) agreed that Marry Me has commercial potential.
"You're going to love this song. It's going to be everybody's favourite wedding, and relationship song - even [favourite] breakup song," he laughed.
OBK also highlighted a collaboration with Zimbabwe's Mokoomba as another of his favorite tracks.
Guitarist Selorm explained that the album marks "a new beginning," noting that the team focused on creating songs centered around the "regular person's life," per their beloved tradition.
Regarding the official release date, Selorm stated that listeners can expect the project "soon, sometime this year".
Present also at the session were keyboardist and sound engineer Martin and percussionist Ishmael.
