Musician Kuami Eugene has revealed that he initially opposed featuring fellow musician KiDi on their hit song Ohemaa.

Speaking in an interview with Headless YouTuber, Kuami Eugene said he had already completed the song before he was asked to allow his former Lynx Entertainment label mate onto it.

According to the singer-songwriter, he had composed and written “a complete beautiful song” and did not want any additions to it.

“I won't do it,” he recalled telling management after they suggested adding KiDi to the song.

He said management insisted, telling him, “It’s needed.”

Kuami Eugene further disclosed that he warned Lynx Entertainment he would publicly reveal that he did not want KiDi featured on the track.

“They jokingly said I should go ahead,” he said.

The musician added that after he followed through on that threat during an interview, Lynx Entertainment initiated what he described as a “damage control” public relations effort, showing he and KiDi were not fighting “to cover it up”.

“But back home, I didn't want to put KiDi on Ohemaa,” he emphasised.

“Because I did an entire verse and it was a complete beautiful song. I didn't want any[one's] touch on it.”

Kuami Eugene clarified that he generally finds it “difficult to feature” other artistes on his songs, adding that his music catalogue reflects that preference.
