Don Jazzy denies Mavin Records artist favouritism claims
Mavin Records founder Don Jazzy has dismissed allegations that the label prioritizes certain artists over others, stating that such a practice would be financially illogical. Speaking on the Crea8torium podcast, the music executive argued that a business would not invest resources into developing talent only to deliberately sideline them. He emphasised that the label's investments are made with the expectation of generating returns for both the company and the artists.
Addressing perceptions of inactivity among some roster members, Don Jazzy explained that slower release schedules are typically the choice of the artists themselves rather than management decisions.
He noted that if an artist releases only one or two songs a year, it is usually their own preference.
Additionally, he highlighted that psychological factors, such as imposter syndrome and the pressure of the industry, often cause artists to overthink or panic, contributing to these periods of lower output.
