Music legends gather at one-week observation for Ebo Taylor in Saltpond

Ghanaian music icons gathered at Victoria Park in Saltpond to honour the memory of highlife legend Ebo Taylor during his one-week memorial celebration.

Among those present were celebrated musician Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Bessa Simons, as well as renowned artists like Kofi Kinaata and Pat Thomas.

The gathering brought together musicians, fans and members of the music community to celebrate the life and legacy of Ebo Taylor, who is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most influential highlife and Afrobeat pioneers.

Speakers at the event paid tribute to the late musician for his immense contribution to the growth of Ghanaian music and his influence on generations of artists both locally and internationally.

Family members also announced that the final funeral rites for the late music icon will take place from July 31 to August 2, 2025.

Ebo Taylor’s passing has been widely mourned across Ghana’s creative industry, with many describing him as a towering figure whose music helped shape the evolution of highlife and Afrobeat.

 

The ceremony ended with prayers for the repose of his soul and calls for Ghanaians to celebrate his enduring musical legacy.
