Rapper Yaw Tog speaks about his past
Ghanaian rapper Yaw Tog has opened up about his past record deal with EMPIRE, saying he would still accept the opportunity if given another chance—but with proper legal support.
During a recent podcast appearance, the Y33gye hitmaker revealed that he signed the agreement without a lawyer, a decision he now views differently with experience. Despite that, he acknowledged the major role EMPIRE played in shaping his career.
Yaw Tog explained that the label provided him with a strong platform, exposure, and an organized system that helped manage his projects and growth as an artist.
According to him, this structure made his work easier during his time with the company.
However, he noted that things changed after going independent. Without the label’s support system, he now has to build and manage his own structure.
“EMPIRE gave me the platform and the structure to succeed.
Their system manages projects for artists, which makes things easier. But once you leave, you have to build your own system to handle everything yourself,” he said.
Yaw Tog added that as an independent artist, he is now focused on creating a solid system that works for him and supports his career moving forward.
