Ali Nuhu admits losing his mother strengthened his career focus
Celebrated Nigerian actor Ali Nuhu has spoken about how the death of his mother shaped both his personality and professional journey.
In an interview on the With Chude podcast, Nuhu revealed that his mother passed away at the early stages of his career, an event that deeply influenced his outlook on life.
He explained that the pain of her loss drove him to concentrate fully on his work, cutting back on social interactions.
“At one point, I withdrew into myself. I wasn’t socialising much; I just focused on the projects I had,” he recalled.
Nuhu described his mother as the best parent he could have wished for, highlighting the strong bond they shared.
“She gave me the best care any child could receive.
She enrolled me in good schools and looked after me so well.
I was very attached to her,” he said.
The actor further disclosed that he was raised by his mother alone after his parents mutually agreed to separate.
“My mom raised me single-handedly.
She and my dad agreed the marriage wouldn’t work, so they parted ways,” he explained.
For many years, Nuhu had no relationship with his father.
“From the age of five until I finished secondary school, I never saw him.
It was my mother who later took me to spend holidays with him after graduation,” he added.
