Accra High Court adjourns Adu-Boahene’s case to August 25

The High Court in Accra has adjourned the trial of former Cyber Security Authority Director-General, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, and his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng, to August 25, 2026.

The adjournment followed arguments over an application pending before the Supreme Court seeking to restrain the High Court from continuing the trial during the legal vacation.

Counsel holding brief for the accused persons, Peter Osei-Asamoah, urged the court to adjourn the case to await the Supreme Court’s determination of the injunction application which has a return date of August 20.

The Deputy Attorney General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, opposed the request, arguing that the mere filing of an injunction application does not stop the High Court from proceeding with a case unless an actual injunction order has been granted.

However, the trial judge Justice Franscis Achibonga disagreed.

The trial judge stated that where an application before the Supreme Court specifically seeks to restrain a lower court from conducting proceedings, the lower court should not continue with the conduct being challenged until the application is determined.

The trial  judge Justice Franscis Achibonga was therefore  unable to proceed with the trial while the injunction application remains pending before the Supreme Court.

The case has consequently been adjourned to August 25, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. to await the outcome of the Supreme Court application.
