Adamus Resources challenges govt's lease revocation

Adamus Resources Limited

Adamus Resources Limited has rejected reports of the revocation of its mining leases, describing the action as a breach of due process and administrative fairness.

In a statement issued by the company, it challenged a circulating press release attributed to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources announcing the cancellation of its licences covering the Akango, Salman and Nkroful concessions.

According to the company, the allegations cited as the basis for the revocation are “baseless” and do not accurately reflect its operations.

It insisted that it remains a duly licensed mining firm operating within Ghana’s regulatory framework, with approvals from the Minerals Commission and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in line with the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703).

Adamus Resources further expressed concern over what it described as a serious lapse in due process, stating that it was neither formally notified of the specific allegations nor given the opportunity to respond before the decision was taken.

The company argued that such actions undermine principles of fairness and administrative justice, particularly in matters involving significant long-term investments.

It also categorically denied any involvement in illegal mining activities or unlawful subcontracting, maintaining that it adheres strictly to Ghana’s mining regulations and environmental standards.

Adamus Resources indicated that it has begun engaging relevant authorities to clarify the situation and address the concerns raised.

It expressed confidence that a full and fair review would confirm its compliance with the law.

The company added that it will take all necessary steps to protect its legal rights while continuing to engage stakeholders constructively.
