Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has insisted that the funeral and burial of the late Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka will commence on Thursday, July 30, rejecting claims that the arrangements have not been finalised.

Her comments come after her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena Kantanka, Head of the Safo Family and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana, announced at a press conference that the July 30 date should be disregarded.

Speaking on Angel FM, Adwoa Safo maintained that the funeral committee had completed all arrangements following consultations with key stakeholders, including the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

She further alleged that the Head of the Safo Family had failed to proceed with an earlier funeral date scheduled for June 25, resulting in the current arrangements for the funeral to be held in the last week of July.

Outlining the programme for the final funeral rites, she said:

"On the 30th of July, we will go to Gomoa Mpota to bury my late father. On the 31st of July, we will be at Independence Square to hold the funeral service. Then, on the 8th of August, we will travel to Asante Mampong in Kumasi for the thanksgiving service. So everyone should disregard the rumours that the funeral will not take place or that it has been cancelled."

Adwoa Safo also disclosed that she had undergone successful surgery after sustaining gunshot injuries during the coronation of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I.
