Preparations for the burial of Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo continued at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region on Thursday despite a High Court injunction restraining the funeral.

Despite Media's Jacob Kubi, reporting from the community, said canopies, chairs, a stage and traditional drummers had all been set up, with funeral activities underway.

According to him, supporters dressed in red and black said they had no choice but to attend because they had already made preparations before the court issued its order.

Security at the venue was largely being handled by internal security personnel, while two police vehicles with about 12 officers were parked at the scene. The officers had not intervened in the activities, and some women were seen directing people at the venue.

Jacob Kubi said Apostle Kwadwo Safo's body had not yet been sighted.

He also reported that representatives of both Sarah Adwoa Safo and her brother, Israel 'Akofena' Safo, were absent from the venue.

However, individuals who identified themselves as family members from Kumasi said they were overseeing the funeral arrangements.

According to the family, the funeral rites are scheduled to run from Thursday to Sunday.

The reporter said there was no sign that the event had been affected by the injunction, with attendees repeating Adwoa Safo's earlier remarks on Peace FM that the funeral would take place "live and coloured."

Members of the Kristo Asafo Mission at Dansoman also told the reporter that the court dispute could be dealt with after the burial.

Apostle Kwadwo Safo is regarded as a revered traditional leader in Gomoa Mpota.

Subsequent footage on Channel One TV's Facebook from the funeral grounds showed scores of mourners already seated, with many others continuing to arrive at the venue.

Some attendees were seen wearing red T-shirts bearing the inscription, "Kantanka Never Dies," as preparations for the burial of Apostle Kwadwo Safo continued.
