The Bank of Ghana has dismissed reports suggesting that it is considering the sale of its newly constructed headquarters, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a press release issued on Monday, June 2, the central bank refuted a publication by MyJoyOnline titled “Bank of Ghana considering sale of new $260m headquarters - sources.”

According to the Bank, it is neither considering nor discussing any plans to sell the facility.

“The Bank of Ghana categorically states that this report is false and misleading.

The Bank is not considering, discussing, or planning the sale of its new headquarters,” the statement said.

The Bank explained that the facility was inaugurated to support its operations and improve efficiency in the discharge of its statutory mandate, stressing that the building remains a critical institutional asset.

The central bank also cautioned against the circulation of unverified reports, warning that such publications could undermine public confidence in Ghana’s financial system and create unnecessary uncertainty within the market.

“We urge the public and the media to disregard this publication.

Unverified reports of this nature have the potential to undermine public confidence in Ghana’s financial system and create unnecessary market uncertainty,” the statement added.

The Bank further reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and stated that all official communications are issued through its official channels, including its website, verified social media platforms, press statements from the Communications Department, and signed statements from the Secretary of the Bank.
