Brothers die in fatal microlight aircraft crash in Tema
The two victims of Monday’s tragic microlight aircraft crash at Tema Community 1 have been identified as Captain Frank Donkor, 36 years and his younger brother Elisha, 26 years.
Captain Donkor, an experienced flight instructor with over 15 years in aviation, was piloting a two-seater Sky Arrow aircraft when it crashed near a school and burst into flames on impact.
The aircraft, registered as 9G-ADV, went down close to the TMA Day Care Centre, but quick action by teachers ensured the children were evacuated safely.
The deceased brothers are sons of Elder Frank Kwabena Donkor, founder of the well-known Hebron Prayer Camp, news that has sent shockwaves across Ghana’s religious community.
The tragedy is made more poignant by reports that Captain Donkor had recently married, tying the knot just three months ago.
Captain Donkor was a highly skilled airman, holding both Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII) ratings, and was well-respected within Ghana’s aviation sector.
The crash has sparked mourning among both the aviation and religious communities nationwide.
