C/R: Passengers stranded as vehicle shortages hit Cape Coast ahead of Easter
As the Easter festivities approach, passengers traveling across Cape Coast and its surrounding areas are facing long delays due to a shortage of vehicles. Commuters are reportedly stranded at stations and along roadsides, struggling to secure transport to their hometowns for the holiday celebrations.
In a recent engagement with the Cooperative Transport Union in Cape Coast, union officials outlined measures to ease the travel challenges and ensure safety on the roads during the festive period.
The Chairman of the union, popularly called Leo, highlighted that the scarcity of vehicles has left many passengers stranded. He appealed to drivers to exercise patience and caution while driving, urging them to avoid speeding that could result in accidents during and after the Easter festivities.
He also advised passengers not to pressure drivers to drive faster, as this could compromise road safety.
Echoing these sentiments, the Vice Chairman and Treasurer of the Cooperative Transport Union emphasised the importance of safe driving.
They called on drivers to follow road safety protocols and encouraged passengers to be understanding and patient during this busy travel period.
The union’s reminders come as authorities and transport operators work to manage increased passenger movement across the region during the Easter holiday.
