Ghana and Zimbabwe have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with President John Dramani Mahama outlining key frameworks to guide deeper cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking during bilateral discussions with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the Peduase Lodge, President Mahama highlighted the 2023 General Cooperation Agreement and the inaugural Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation as central to advancing the partnership.

The President underscored the importance of expanding collaboration under the African Continental Free Trade Area, noting Ghana’s role as host of its Secretariat.

He identified priority areas for cooperation, including mining, agriculture, energy, tourism, and trade.

President Mahama also called for increased private sector participation to drive economic growth, alongside improved connectivity between the two nations, including the potential introduction of direct flights between Accra and Harare.

He expressed confidence that the engagements would provide an opportunity to assess progress and establish a clear roadmap for stronger bilateral relations.

The talks form part of ongoing efforts by both countries to deepen diplomatic and economic ties while leveraging regional integration opportunities.
