Power outage hits parts of Accra and surrounding areas
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a power outage affecting several communities in the Accra West Region and nearby areas.
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, ECG explained that the disruption is due to an upstream challenge that has affected electricity supply to multiple locations.
According to the company, the affected areas include New Achimota, Tantra Hills, Nii Boye Town, Achimota Petroleum, Ofankor, Sowutuom, Omajor, John Teye, Ayawaso, Amamoley, parts of ACP, Medie, Kotoku, Adeiso, Coalter, Adoagyire, Nsawam Hospital, Nsumia, and surrounding communities.
ECG assured customers that its engineers are actively working to resolve the issue and restore power as soon as possible.
The company also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to residents and businesses.
Power outages linked to upstream challenges typically originate from issues within the broader electricity supply chain, often beyond ECG’s immediate control.
