Closure of completed Weija Paediatric Hospital unacceptable — CDM
The Centre for Democratic Movement (CDM) has called on the government to immediately reopen the Weija Paediatric Hospital, describing the continued closure of the reportedly completed facility as unacceptable.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra, the Convener of the group, Samuel Doku, said the delay in operationalising the specialist children’s hospital is depriving thousands of children and families of access to critical healthcare services.
According to him, despite reports that the hospital has been fully equipped and completed, it remains inaccessible due to procurement disputes, financial disagreements and administrative bottlenecks.
Mr Doku urged the government to urgently address all outstanding issues delaying the opening of the facility and provide the public with a clear timeline for its operationalisation.
He also demanded an independent audit into the project over allegations of procurement inflation and possible overpricing of medical equipment.
