The Member of Parliament for Wa West Constituency, Peter Lanchene Toobu, has raised concern over what he describes as three major national “red flags” that, if not urgently addressed, could push Ghana into serious instability.

According to him, land ownership disputes, chieftaincy conflicts, and youth unemployment remain critical challenges threatening the country’s social cohesion and long-term development.

The MP who is also the Vice Chairman of the Defence an Interior Commiteee of Parliament raised these worries in a post he made on Facebook dated Tuesday May 19, 20256

Mr. Toobu cautioned that these issues, if left unresolved, could deepen tensions across communities and undermine national progress.

He explained that land ownership disputes continue to generate conflicts in many parts of the country, often escalating into prolonged legal and traditional battles.

The MP also pointed to persistent chieftaincy disputes as a major source of instability, noting that disagreements over traditional authority frequently disrupt peace in affected communities.

On youth unemployment, the fromer police officer expressed concern that the lack of economic opportunities for young people remains one of the most pressing risks to national security and development.

Mr. Toobu stressed the need for coordinated national efforts involving government, traditional authorities, and stakeholders to address these challenges holistically.

He urged policymakers to prioritise long-term solutions that promote peace, job creation, and effective land governance to safeguard Ghana’s future stability.
