Court grants bail to former NAFCO CEO and wife in GH¢50m fraud case
The High Court in Accra has granted bail to former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food and Buffer Stock Company, Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni, in an ongoing criminal case involving alleged corruption and financial irregularities linked to more than GH¢50 million in public funds.
The court admitted Mr. Abdul-Wahab to bail in the sum of GH¢60 million, while his wife was granted bail of GH¢3.5 million. Both accused persons are required to provide two justified sureties each.
The decision follows their plea of not guilty to a revised 20-count charge sheet filed by the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice.
As part of the bail conditions, the court directed that both accused persons be placed on a stop list at all entry and exit points across the country to prevent international travel while the trial is ongoing.
They have also been ordered to surrender their passports to the court registry.
In addition, the accused persons are required to report to the Economic and Organised Crime Office every two weeks.
The court further ruled that existing EOCO bail conditions would remain in force, noting concerns that the accused persons may not immediately satisfy the newly imposed terms.
The court has given the two accused persons until May 21, 2026, to fully comply with all bail requirements, including securing the necessary sureties and completing administrative processes tied to their release.
Meanwhile, the prosecution has been directed to file all witness statements and disclosures within seven days where such documents have not already been submitted.
The accused persons have also been instructed to provide a list of witnesses they intend to rely on in their defence should they choose to do so.
