The Bimbilla Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mbow Mohammed, has resigned from his position with immediate effect.

In a resignation letter dated May 18, 2026, and addressed to the Northern Regional Chairman of the party, Mbow Mohammed stated that his decision followed “careful reflection and consideration.”

According to him, he has served the party since becoming a member in 1992 and has contributed financially, logistically, physically and spiritually toward the growth of the NPP.

He described his role as Constituency Chairman as an honour and expressed appreciation to party executives, members and supporters for their cooperation over the years.

“Together with dedicated party executives, members, and supporters, we have worked tirelessly to advance the interest of the party within the constituency and beyond,” he stated.

Mbow Mohammed explained that his resignation had become necessary to allow him “regain my respect, personal peace, and strength” while continuing to support the party.

He clarified that stepping down from his position does not mean he is leaving the NPP.

“I remain a loyal and committed member and will continue to support the vision and electoral fortunes of the party towards the 2028 general elections and beyond,” he wrote.

The former constituency chairman also thanked the national, regional, constituency, electoral area and polling station executives, as well as party supporters, for their support throughout his years of service.

Copies of the resignation letter were also addressed to the National Chairman, the Constituency Executive Committee and the Member of Parliament for the Bimbilla Constituency.
