As part of efforts to deepen public understanding of government policies and initiatives, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection organised a community engagement program to educate citizens on the ministry’s work, particularly in the area of social protection.

The event brought together school children, the elderly, traditional leaders, and government officials, creating a platform for interaction and awareness on issues affecting vulnerable groups in society.

Speaking to the media, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, explained that the engagement was aimed at helping citizens better understand the Ministry’s responsibilities and key policies, especially those concerning human trafficking and child exploitation.

According to the Minister, beyond her role as sector minister, she also serves as the Member of Parliament for the area, and therefore used the opportunity to interact directly with her constituents to better understand their concerns and needs in relation to the Ministry’s mandate.

She further expressed appreciation for the massive turnout at the event and commended the school children for their impressive and educative presentation on the dangers of drug abuse and its harmful effects on society.

Looking ahead, Naa Momo Lartey disclosed the ministry’s plans to expand the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme to improve the living conditions of beneficiaries and provide greater support for vulnerable households across the country.
