Four killed in Savannah Region crash as tipper truck runs into pregnant woman
Four people, including a pregnant woman and her child, have lost their lives in a fatal road accident at Kinkinlin near Makango in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region.
The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday at about 5:00 a.m. while a group of women and young girls were heading to their farms to gather shea nuts.
Eyewitnesses say a Sinotruk HOWO tipper truck, registered GB-2359-20, reportedly lost control, crossed into the opposite lane, and rammed into the pedestrians from behind before overturning.
Five people were struck during the accident. Four victims died on the spot, while one survivor sustained severe injuries and was initially taken to the Salaga Government Hospital before being transferred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
The deceased are reported to include a pregnant woman and her daughter, as well as another woman and her child.
The tragedy has left residents of the Kinkinlin community in shock and mourning.
