GA/R: Fire destroys church canteen at Kalabule, no casualties reported
A fire outbreak has destroyed the canteen of the Resurrection Power New Generation Church at Kalabule in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The incident occurred when church members noticed thick smoke billowing from the top floor of the one-storey building.
They initially attempted to control the fire using hand-held extinguishers before alerting the Ghana National Fire Service.
Personnel from the Dansoman Fire Station responded to the distress call and managed to bring the fire under control.
According to the Greater Accra Regional NADMO Director in charge of operations, Daniel Domie, no casualties were recorded, although the fire caused significant property damage.
The commander of the responding fire team, Maxwell Boateng, attributed delays in reaching the scene to challenges with access along the route from Dansoman.
He urged property owners to adopt preventive fire safety measures to protect lives and property.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, as investigations continue.
