O/R: Ghana Police Service arrest suspect in Kadjebi murder case
The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has arrested a 36-year-old suspect in connection with the murder of an 80-year-old woman at Mangoase near Kadjebi in the Oti Region.
The suspect, identified as Chalim Madzaton, also known as Peter Tano, is a farmer who was apprehended at his hideout in Kpaya, a suburb of Ahamansu, following an intelligence-led operation by the Kadjebi District Police Command.
According to the Police, the incident occurred on March 24, 2026, when the suspect allegedly attacked his girlfriend, Yaa Tugbenyo, 55, and her mother, Dakolor Semaka, at their residence.
Police said Yaa Tugbenyo managed to escape during the attack but later returned to find her mother lying motionless on the floor.
Officers who visited the scene found the victim lying in a supine position with visible signs of violence. The scene was processed and documented for evidential purposes.
The deceased was pronounced dead by a medical officer at St. Mary Theresa Hospital. The body has since been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations and is expected to be arraigned before court.
