GMet issues nationwide weather alert for Tues May 26
The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a nationwide weather warning as a major rainstorm moves across the country today.
The system is bringing heavy rainfall, lightning, and very rough sea conditions. In Accra and other coastal cities including Cape Coast, Takoradi, and Aflao, expect intermittent rain and thunderstorms through the morning and afternoon, with mostly cloudy skies persisting into the night.
For Kumasi and the middle belt regions, the day will start cloudy before heavy rain and thunderstorms develop from late afternoon into the evening.
Motorists in Tarkwa, Sunyani, and Goaso should be extra careful this morning due to dense fog and mist that are significantly reducing visibility on the roads.
In the northern parts, particularly Tamale and Bolgatanga, heavy morning downpours will clear by afternoon, giving way to hot and sunny conditions with temperatures expected to hit 35°C.
GMet has strongly cautioned fishermen, seafarers, and beachgoers to remain very careful, as sea conditions are currently rough with dangerous waves and strong winds.
