Gov't retools and modernise Ghana’s transport sector-Affo-Toffey
A new fleet of modern buses have been introduced to enhance public transportation across the country, with Deputy Minister for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey highlighting improved comfort, safety, and operational efficiency for passengers across the counrty.
The buses, according to her, each configured with 29 seats, are equipped with full air conditioning, charging ports, and adjustable seating, making them suitable for both intercity and township travel.
The development forms part of ongoing efforts by the government, under President John Dramani Mahama, to retool and modernise Ghana’s transport sector.
She also acknowledged the role of the Ministry of Transport and Metro Mass Transit Limited in facilitating the acquisition and deployment of the buses.
She noted that a strong maintenance culture has been put in place to ensure the long-term reliability and sustainability of the fleet.
She gave this assurance at the pre-inspection of the first 100 batch of buses imported from Egypt in Accra
She explained that the introduction of the buses are to improve mobility, reduce travel discomfort, and enhance the overall quality of public transport services in the country.
