The High Court in Accra has granted a 10-day interim injunction restraining the planned funeral and burial rites of the late founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

The court's order temporarily halts all funeral activities that had been scheduled to take place on July 30 and 31, 2026, pending the determination of the matter before it.

The injunction means the Kristo Asafo Mission and all parties connected to the funeral arrangements are barred from proceeding with the burial and related ceremonies until the expiration of the court order or any further directive from the court.

The reasons for the application leading to the injunction were not immediately disclosed.

Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, died earlier this year, with preparations underway for a two-day state-recognised funeral expected to attract thousands of mourners.
